So here's the thing; I've got a garage with plenty of space, light, good and clean, electricity... but no water.

I was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas - I was thinking of getting a large water butt and pump to feed through - any issues with hygiene? I'd fill via a hose connected to my garden tap and could then pump through for cooling purposes.

Any thoughts welcome!

Why not just use the garden hose and tap? That is effectively what i do in my workshop I hose in water from the kitchen. I pipe it in with a hose then it goes through a bit of plumbing which spits it in two with taps then through two more hoses one to fill the HLT and the other for the chiller. when it is not in use I just dismantle it as all the connections are brass hose connectors.

Why not just run an extension from house outside tap to garage using those garden connector doodars. you could also affix a tap to outside or inside garage using same stuff and no need for water butt which would cause problems if it got warm. Or maybe that plastic piping that is snap fittings etc??

Hi - your plumbing solution sounds very interesting - don't suppose you've got a photo posted anywhere on here have you?

I'd love to, but my garage is separate from the house with my neighbours drive in between! (Grr - it was difficult enough to negotiate getting the electricity in!!) I think I can get away with a hose pipe trailing across on brew days... might need to bribe with some of the finished result....!
