Not quite as low a ph as Ashbeck - 6.2 , Clearview - 6.3 or Aqua Pura - 6.1

I came across ADSA 5 litre bottle of natural still mineral water. Sourced from GB4 low plains, armathwaite, Cumbria CA4 9TU for £1.05

values are mg per litre

Calcium 13
Magnesium 4
Sodium 11
Potassium 2
Bicarbonate 36
Chloride 14
Sulphate 12
Nitrate 17
PH at source 6.4

Ashbeck is quite hard to get in south wales, but this will do to make up my next batch of SS :thumb:

I used to use volvic but it goes cloudier quicker, doesn't stay usable for as long and was dearer

Cant you just use tap water with a higher concentration of SS? I have Hard water and do just, had no probs so far. If you're worried you could get some litmus papers to check it 's below pH3

I do use litmus paper to check it. Our tap water is rubbish :-( , so no way that's going into the beer even for starsan!

Is that Eden Falls? If so then it's what I use for brewing because the low mineral content makes it easy to adjust for style. I also use it for starsan and have never yet seen it go cloudy. My current spray bottle is 2 months old and still ph 3 ish according to my litmus paper.

Really? South Wales has really soft water so should be absolutely fine for star san. I'd be staggered if the tiny amount that was left behind from using star-san would cause any problems with your beer.

Saying that I use Asda Eden Falls water, which sounds like what you are using, for mixing up star-san. My understanding is that it is from the same source as the Tesco Ashbeck water.

no it's not eden falls. The water profile is different from Ashbeck. re: south wales water there is a film on top of boiled tap water whereas there used to be none. It looks really offputting when making tea without milk. It's similar to what the water in norfolk was like when we holidayed there but not as bad. Still worse than it used to be so bottled it is for me.

Not sure what's going on with Asda at the moment. Just popped over at lunch time to get my brewing water for the weekend and Eden Falls has disappeared in the most economical 4x2l format and is looking thin on the ground in the other packs. There was a replacement spring water in its place but that had a whopping 166mg of Sodium in it so I passed on that and bought 'Yorkshire Vale' from Morrisons instead. Low in all minerals and pH 7.3 so not great for Starsan but fine for a base water for brewing.

I've not bought water from Morrisons for brewing or for star san. Altough I prefer to shop there compared to Tesco. I use chase spring from lidl or aldi or its also branded as Tesco value. It's 17p for 2 liters.

what is the cost of the Yorkshire vale?
