So I read that washing stuff in fairy liquid etc is not great for beer, either carbonation of head retention. so how do you all was your bottles and beer glasses?

My Glasses just go in the dishwasher

For bottles I try and rinse them out (just cold tap water) as soon as poured to clear the trub off the bottom before they go manky. Then I give them a quick clean when a few have built up with warm water and a bottle brush. Then sanatise with Starsan solution just before bottling a brew. No soap anywhere near them - apply a similar cleaning regime with FV but using a cloth instead of a brush.

Basically i do the same with bottles but I got a nice set of Spiegelau beer glasses for my birthday earlier in the year and don't want to use the dishwasher on them.

Thats understandable, I would just wash them with warm water and a J cloth (no soap), allow to stand for 5 mins on a drainer and then towel dry

Glasses in the dishwasher and a rinse before use.

Bottles are rinsed after use and then cleaned and sanitised before use.

I know that fairy liquid is bad for beer glasses but I still just wash em in the sink along with the rest of the dishes...I can't help being lazy!

Same here, but I always make sure I give them a good rinse before draining/drying.

Yes DONT put those Speigelau glasses in the dishwasher.. they are great glasses but thin.. I think the DW would wreak them but I think you know that already..

Unless they are really bad I just use hot water.. and a bottle brush if I get sticky residue on the bottom..,, Leave to air dry and or use a microfiber..

luke warm - hot water with a scrubbing brush cleaning the inside as well as the outside and then air dried

If you wash the dishes by hand as we tend to do in this house, wash glasses first before anything else, drain, rinse in tap water, and dry using a dedicated glasses cloth.
If you have been eating whilst drinking your pint make sure the glasses are given an extra wash.
The tell tail signs that your glasses are not clean are tiny bubbles that form on the inside of the glass when the beer has been poured into them. This is usually due to an oily smear and the more bubbles you see the dirtier the the glass and the less likely your pint will hold its head. Plus you don't want to be drinking the residue of last nights pizza do you?
