I mentioned on UP's Bass Imperial Stout thread that we pass a quite new microbrewery in Newtown on our way to and from my in-laws. Trouble is, we usually pass when they are closed.
I enjoyed the Landmark Festival Bitter, could appreciate the Snakebitter but it wasn't really to my taste, but I'm sorry to say I was disappointed by the Stout. The blackberry notes were interesting but to me it had very little body, I would estimate bitterness in the low 20s, and it had no head retention whatsoever.
Even so, I will be calling again next time we pass during opening hours, and look forward to sampling the rest of their wares.
I couldn't remember if it was a 3 or 4 bbl plant, but have now been correctedMoley said:Thanks UP, you've reminded me that I've got a bottle of Waen Brewery Blackberry Stout to sample before the blackberries come into season. That's a 3BBL micro brewery we pass en-route to my in-laws, I bought a few bottles to test last time we went and (as it's bottle conditioned) I still have one which I'd left down the cellar to clear again after its car journey.
Welcome hemplady : Are you the brewer?hemplady said:Waen Brewery is a 5 bbl plant :)
