I just opened my first bottle of nettle beer and it was like some kind of eruption, by the time it stopped spraying out there was only half the bottle left! Is there anything I can do to try and prevent this happening with the other bottles?

If they are in screw top bottles, just undo them a bit to vent off some pressure. If they are in crown cap bottles, you could try loosening the caps the day before drinking - so put in fridge for a day - loosen cap a bit and return to fridge - drink next day. Might work.

The idea is to get some of the CO2 out the bottle before finally removing the lid.

I'll try that, hope it works as the brew smells and tastes great, just could do with more of it in the glass and less on the floor/my lap!

Chill for a couple of days first or open it whilst its stood in an empty jug so you don't lose any.

Or since you are pouring them into a glass anyway just put the glass on a table or something, have the bottle tilted slightly over the glass then open it so all the liquid goes into it...

Chill first then if it is crown capped just release the cap a little bit and allow the excess Co2 to vent before removing fully. This worked for me with a lively cider
