I've just started my 1st LME brew and I'm feeling smug :D

Now, I've just used about 1/3 of my hops, should I keep the remainder in the freezer? My Citra (20g) was used for the last 5 mins and I also intend to dry hop (20g) that later on.

Yeh me too. Wrap the bag up and shove in the freezer.

Will be good for a wee while in there.

I no longer have leftovers as I use loads for aroma and chuck all the remaining ones in for dry hopping. I know it's extravagant but i don't brew very often. My latest Bombay IPA used 300gms and is a real aromafest. ;-)

What I do is every 3 or 4 brews I grab whatever's in the freezer and make a random pale ale with them to use them up.

Means you get a batch of beer for next to nothing as the hops are leftovers....and everyone you make is different!

There is no need to freeze hops. Pellets keep for 3years (sealed) leaf hops for 1 year (sealed) at 3 degrees C.

That said keeping them in the freezer, stops stinking your fridge out. Mind you if you can smell them in the fridge they're oxidising anyway!

Regards

Hoppy
