Wish I never ordered 25kg sack of lager malt as feel I would rather brew ales rather than lager now what difference would it make using lager malt as my main base malt? Or am I best just getting some mo ordered?

I see a few ale recipes asking for Lager malt. Indeed for golden ales or blonde ales of any strength, normal pale will be too dark.

Get a sack of MO.

I would say you could do some amazing mega-pales with a blend of lager, MO and a bit of crystal. :thumb:

a little less malt flavour and body, very light colour, but you can certainly brew a good ale with all lager base malt.

add crystal malt for flavour, munich and vienna for malt body, adjuncts, etc. it's great for american IPA's too.

Cheers guys think I'll use this up before getting mo then, even if my beers don't turn out great it has to be really bad for me not to drink it

Lager malts are less modified than pale malts.
Not all though. I think British lager malts are fully modified but Pilsner malts aren't.

In case of any doubts look at Kolbach index in malt spec. If it's over 40, then it's fully modified. FYI, all regular pilsner malts I used had 42.
