using a balloon

hi there u jolly brewers, ive got 1.5 ltrs of wine left over and put it in a plastic pop bottle. I aint got proper air lock made up yet so using a ballon I read it sum where 2 improvise. should do the same job as a normal airlock?? Anybody used this method B4 please does it work ok?????? its an emergancy measure as an airlock lets the gas escape and a ballon will just store it ( not that long if you ever seen a kids ballon in the next morning)
it should work ook but if you fermation is very vigorous then expect it to blow off the bottle
