I've just done my first 5L AG brew as per Clibit's instructions.

I bought a 100g vacuum packed bag of pellets but only needed 20g, what do you do with the rest?

Thanks for any pointers,

Nial

BTW, does anyone else's better half give off about the smell of the wort/ boil?

As Notlaw says keep em in the freezer. If you can find some at you local supermarket, get some of those vacuum bags that you keep clothes, etc in (the vacuum sucks all the air out) and keep en in one of those - it's how I keep mine in the freezer. Oxidation is the enemy of fresh hops

Makes two of us Beardy.. the better half seems to enjoy the fruits of my labour.

As for the leftover hops, keep them in the freezer with as little oxygen as possible. I have myself a vacuum sealer so just re-seal the bag when I've taken what I needed, otherwise you can put them in an air-lock bag with as much of the air squeezed out as possible. I know some people who do that and then put them in an air-tight container - might be overkill though.

Either way, heat and oxygen are the enemies of a hop's shelf life.

My wife loves it (and the end results), guess I got a good'un!

Our lass loves her ale, she just doesn't like the kitchen walls drenched from the steam or the floor piss-wet through water spilled everywhere.

I am a clumsy arse in fairness!

I like hoppy beers so I normally just put them in a sandwich bag and chuck them back in the freezer for a week until fermentation has finished, then add them all as a dry hop.

I figure the dry hop doesn't need to be a precise measure and saves me having a load of part open bags.

I realise this isn't practical for lightly hopped ales though.
