I have recently purchased a Peco EB1D bin and I am about ready to switch over to it. However, a friend has just told me that he has problems with the mashing temperature. In one area of the vessel, the temperature was 65c but in another area, it was much higher. He has tried stirring to create a more uniform temperature, but that didn’t seem to work. Anyone else had this problem and what might be the solution?

I would think this is a fairly common issue with boilers. I use a recirculation pump to help with efficiency and temperature control, mind you I also tend to stir the mash too :)

Basically I keep as much moving as possible in order to even it out. Mind you the thermostat on the kettle itself can be a little wayward so it all may be in vain anyway! Beer's always turned out good so I'm not changing it!!
