Mashtun?? I'm thinking lots of strips of polystyrene around the sides like an old barrel is made of wooden strips (can be sourced for free), a disc shaped piece at the bottom, and lots of gaffer tape. Maybe some other sort of insulation too. Perhaps a little insulation jacket that could be removed when not in use to reduce size.

Is this barmy?

Nope mate sounds quite reasonable. :thumb:

My first tun was a FV covered in fibreglass insulation, rapped with kitchen foil, covered in gaffer tape then kept snug with a sleeping bag and fluffy cushion for the 90min and it worked well.

I did exactly the same thing with demi-johns when I fermented wine in the cellar :thumb:

I use my tun as a FV quite happily :thumb:

But my idea was to do the opposite :wha:

I already have a few brewing buckets with taps on and so I was considering trying to use on as a tun by insulating it.
