Hi guys,
Just started a ginger ale from a recipe on 'Instructables' in a 4.5l demijohn
1kg sugar
11g Gervin yeast
200g ginger
2 lemons
Added half orange juice, teaspoon chilli and some zest

So I've just taken my ABV at 40°C (1.086) and used the temp adjustment calc on brewers friend it has come out at 1.091
Does this sound correct?
Will this be mega strong? Uh ohhhhh haha

Sounds good. 1.091 fermented down to 1.00 is 11.94% so it's a pretty strong Ale but isn't for a wine. Adding less sugar next time will lower the ABV.

Cheers Razor! Think I'll bottle into Budweiser size then just to ensure I'm not responsible for too much hahaha

Thought it went well hahaha I want to do all grain having only done a kit with two different demijohns after hopped, which I'm currently bottling!! I just want to experiment really though!

I made a similar mistake with my pear and apple mulled cider. Came out 12.6%. Shouldn't have put it in 500ml bottles. :drunk:

I'm not sure if I'm the best for advice as my first one is currently in the FV. However I did check out a lot of recipes before hand and some great tips. I used 970g of golden syrup and 1kg of granulated sugar. This filled my two demijohns then used gervin wilko's yeast.

For bottling I'm going to do a low co2 prime as I've never done it before I don't want them exploding. As it has the potential to be quite dry and fiery I'm also going to sweeten the batch when I bottle with some stevia as it's a non fermentable sugar. So it will sweeten the beer but not ferment.

Hope this helps. But I am very much testing this out for the first time myself. I will keep you posted on if it comes out any good.
