Tube heaters

I have this tube heater which is too big to fit in my new fermentation fridge, unless I put it up sideways. However I think I read somewhere not to do that. Is there an issue if I attach it to the wall of the fridge instead of the bottom?

I don't see an issue with the angle, but what you will have is massive overshoot on temperature. You only need about a 40w heater.

I have an Inkbird thermostat to control the temperature. I might get a smaller one or a heat pad soon. I'm brewing tomorrow so if I could use this that would be great.

The inkbird will switch off the heater when it gets to temperature but because it's such a big heater even when switched off it will continue to heat for a small period due to the latent heat.

Good to know, I will set it 1°C lower than my target temp to compensate, then take it from there.

At 135 watts, that's a huge heater to put in a Brew Fridge.

I use 40w ones like this one ...

... and turn down the maximum temperature in Spring and Autumn in order to suit the current ambient conditions.

The one in your photograph doesn't seem to have this facility so, even though I extol the massive virtues of the Inkird Controllers, I think it will be very difficult to get one to control this one; especially in the Spring and Autumn when the ambient temperatures may be just a few degrees below what you wish to achieve in the fridge.

My advice would be to get a smaller one and use the larger one to keep your feet warm in the winter! :thumb:
