Hi,

Just a quickie about what I can/can't put WOW and Cheeky Vimto Cider in. I've been talked into supplying a few gallons of both for a get together this weekend, however I'm in a dillemma about how to transport it. It is still in DJs at the moment waiting for me to decide.

I don't really want to take bottles as there is approx 6 gallons and I need to fit my camping gear in the car somewhere too. Can anyone see a problem with syphoning straight out of the DJs into 12 litre camping water butts? (sterilised of course) Will it have any detrimental effect on the taste? It won't be in there for long as I expect it all to be drunk over the 2 nights we are there. The handy taps will make pouring easy too.

If this doesn't seem viable, does anyone have any alternative ideas?

Look forward to your thoughts

Theo

2L PET bottles are fine. I use the ones that I buy Tesco's value Sparliking water in for 10P a pop.
Ideal for transportation, tough, fridge friendly and if one only gets partially used, just squeeze the sides to expell the air and screw the top down and the content wont spoil.
I suply my sister with wine to take to Uni this way and it works a treat.

 well if uni students drink it, it must be okay then

Nah, that was just an example, students will drink anything....

Too true. The crap homebrew kits we used to drink made your head spin around after the first taste. Palatable after adding lime or lemonade to take the edge off it. Then drink straight after a pint or two as your tastebuds were knakered then.

Well, I'm back. Thanks for the answers guys but they came through while I was away.

In the end, I bought 2 flexible plastic water carriers with taps, sterilised them and filled one with WOW and one with Cheeky Vimto Cider.

For future reference, this worked just fine. Not sure how long you could store it like this but I can't test it as all the contents got drunk & it tasted as normal. It was just like having 15 litre boxes of wine.
