To stir or not to stir?

Just about the start brew number 4 and I still am not 100% sure whether to should stir after I have pitched the yeast? :wha: Views would be appreciated please. Does it matter? The instructions I have read with the kits don't tend to say either way!
 
Some kits say do, some say don't...

I've given up bothering and it just gets sprinkled on the top regardless - unless it says to rehydrate in which case it gets rehydrated and stirred in.

I use packs of dried yeast, rehydrate in 150ml of water, leave for 15 mins and then just pour into the FV and its contents.

Never bothered stirring and so far all been successful, used Nottingham / Safale04 & 05,

The 05 has a tendancy towards violence and seems to be very hungry indeed, the residue in the bottom of the bottles does seem to 'compact' well, like it in pale ale and lighter brews :thumb:
 
I'm on my second kit now (Brupaks Fixby) and the yeast had to be rehydrated then stirred vigorously for 7 mins to oxygenate - it went off like a rocket at the weekend :shock: (it was also 23c). The previous kit was Wherry and that was a sprinkle and no stir and was a more relaxed affair :D
 
I just sprinkle then give the FV a swirl after about 15 mins. Never had a problem. That goes for both beer and wine. But I do stir vigerously before hand to get the oxygen in.
 
I dont bother stiring and have not had any problems but you should stir lots before you put the yeast in, you want to get as much oxygen into liquid as you can as the yeast needs this.
