I cornie my beer after roughly ten days then leave for 4 weeks to settle further. I then drink from that or if going places transfer to another cornie to take bright beer. I do bottle from my cornie, either to take samples or to release the cornie for another brew.
you could add primer to your cornie to use as a bottling bucket but I find for ales there is no need as they have lower carbonation levels so just bottle from the fermenter.
if transferring beer to cornies always squirt a little CO2 in there so the splashes don't oxidise. Also connect in going beer through the beer out post as it goes to the bottom.
