It's a different variety of barley, just like pipkin, golden promise, chariot, maris otter, et al

Use in all English (and some US) ales

OK. Is it any good? Also how does it compare to marris otter in terms of flavour?

Dunno, Its New

Dunno, it's new

:D

Initial though from reading that description is that it is being used by the commercial breweries because it yields more extract (not necessarily better) than other varieties . . . and hence keeps the production costs down.

I like my otter, I might be tempted to use Golden Promise instead of US Two row in Jamil's recipes, other than that, Good old floor malted MO for me . . . . And pilsner malt of course ;)

+1 for that A! Can I just ask, why does GP make a good sub for Us 2-row?

Cheers

I bought a 25kg bag a month or so ago and had no problem with it. It is, as the name suggests, very pale and worked really nicely in my wheat beer and APA. My housemate also used it in dark and brown ales, also with good results.

I'm about half way through my second sack of Tipple now, I get it from a local micro, and as Aleman suggested the extraction level is a bit higher than MO. I also think it tastes slightly sweeter than MO.

I can also recommend the site you linked to, I use them regularly.
