Made up for the letter that I got this morning from them saying that they are to withdraw the supply of fresh yeast to microbreweries. I forsee a few micros learning how to culture up a bit of yeast quickly

That's a blow, I believe a lot of micros use that yeast t'up north.

If you stand on Lad Law, on the border with West Yorks, on a clear day you can see the hills of the Lake District. That's one end of the county to the other

...and I think it's only about 11 miles IIRC from Yorkshire's most Westerly point (Greave Clough Head?) to the Lancashire coast.
