Hi fellow brewers, not been around for a bit and stocks are running dry :wha:

Need to get a basic bitter sorted in the next week and have my order with John at the Worcester hopshop sorted.
All my bottled bitter and stout has gone and I'm getting to the dregs of Snpa..... I did a peat smoked bitter awhile back but went overboard with it and its way too smoky.....will time mellow out the smoky taste or should I just chalk another one up and tip it

Next brews going to use EKG and fuggles, maybe a bit of bobek.....nothing that can go wrong really.

Reason I've not been around is I've chucked the ciggies

40 a day for 25years was starting to take its toll, so I stopped smoking and have completely changed my routine.
I now seldom use the computer, instead I'm off out on the push bike and stopping at pubs and drinking very good ales :drink:.

Seriously I cycle to work and back, plus I've been doing 50mile routes on my weekends off.
Stopping smoking isn't easy, I'd happily kill for one some nights, but I've found its doable and my health since June has greatly improved.

Please wish me luck to stay off the ciggies, but more importantly for a good brew in the next week

Well done on the fags Sean, I wish you every sucess. :thumb:
I've smoked since I was 9 years old and I am now almost 65, the Doc recommends I also give it up.
Alas, I no longer have your physical ability!
Keep your brew simple, not too many malts, adjuncts or hops + SO4 yeast.
Best of luck, both in brewing and non smoking.

Hey Sean.......

Good to see you back in action.......

I do agree with evanvine..... Keep your brew as simple as you can and try to make sure the proportion of the hops and malt in the brew.....
Wish you a good luck..... :thumb:

Well done Sean on not smoking, been there done it 15 years ago, best thing I ever did. :D

Good luck on the next brew, can't advise as I only do kits! :drink:

Colin.

Well done Sean we know its not easy as we both packed it in 2 and a bit years ago now we save a fortune and our health is alot better now. Its gets easier over time and you will soon hate the smell of a fag. One tip though watch your weight we put on a fair bit after stopping resulting in us both on a healthy eating plan now :thumb:

Thanks for the warm words of encouragement :thumb:

I hate preachers, but anyone seeking advice regarding smoking Allen Carr's books have helped me
Smokers stop when they've had there fill, not when people start nagging ;)

With the kids getting A level results tomorrow and myself hopefully pulling an extra shift at the weekend I think Monday is looking like brewday....Not decided on a particular brew yet, but Wez's Big Kenny is always a goodun.

Unfortunately the pubs run out of Jennings cherry picker, but I'm told Sneck lifter is in good supply :drunk:

Good brewing brewers :drink:
