I'm bored so I thought I'd start up a list if things we should all remember as brewers. Please add your own; I'll kick off with a few...

1. Brewers make wort, yeast makes beer
2. You can't brew great beer if you don't brew
3. There's no such thing as secondary fermentation
4. Not using a thermometer is like building a house without a plumb line

8. Close the tap on your boiler.
9. Double check you closed the tap on your mash tun
10. Close the tap on your FV
11. Keep a mop handy

12. Before switching on the pump . . .make sure that you have opened the tap on the receiving vessel

Your not alone, I'm beginning to like working in puddles ;)

16. Don't buy shi**y thermometers from China that steam up when you get to 75 degrees... :D

17. Don't forget to take a hydrometer reading when you've collected your cooled wort

18. Don't forget to insist to SWMBO that "it's cheaper that going to the pub, duck"

It is cheaper, because you don't have to fork out another £4.50 for a large Sauvignon Blanc every time you want a pint.

Camra might disagree:

What is Real Ale?

Real ale is a beer brewed from traditional ingredients (malted barley, hops water and yeast), matured by secondary fermentation in the container from which it is dispensed, and served without the use of extraneous carbon dioxide.

....discuss...

;)

Yeasties are given food by use to do there thing and carry one until there food is gone, maybe a better term would be secondary feed

20. Never suggest that SWMBO 'goes away while I get a brew on'. Instead, for a greater chance of both home brewed beer and extra rumpy pumpy, suggest that she 'goes off and enjoys some shopping while I mop the kitchen floor'

21. Always leave the kitchen in a cleaner state than when you started brewing, so that your testicles remain intact

Washing kitchen floor was great for browny points years ago, now she just expects it
