Things to do whilst self - isolating

So what things, apart from brewing of course, have you been up to. Now that were all supposed to be staying at home self isolating?

I read that the British Museum's website with its virtual tours has been absolutely inundated with visits. Something I might have a look at

A lot of people phoning 5 live have been watching box sets, i don't think i could sit watching hours of T.V i don't watch much now.

Decorating seems popular, not for me.

You are still allowed to go out for walks a run or cycle ride etc as long as you keep yourself to yourself so no reason to go stir crazy.

Brewing and the occasional ride out in the car, sandwiches and a flask of coffee or tea and find a quite spot somewere on the hardknott pass and enjoy your sarnys and brew

And my wife too. We bought an extra screen for my laptop, and got an old extra screen from my parents for her laptop, and I work upstairs, and she downstairs, and our daughter gets every day schoolwork for a couple of hours.

My children have had more work to do than me since they were told not to go to school. So proud of them working hard still when there is so much uncertainty.

There are no parking charges up on the hardknot or wrynose passes, just fresh air wind and wilderness and the occasional flyby off a typhoon what joy

What to do? Well there is scribbling loads of tosh on this Web site. It is certainly keeping me amused.

DIY is slated for us. Mrs C wanted something that's "a good use of our time" if we have to self-isolate. So, as she is still at work for now I took today as holiday to use as a Brewday before DIY mania fully takes hold.

If the weather is good I have a project to revive that's been on hold since October - painting facia boards and replacing all the gutters on our house. It's great being outside and high up, taking time to do a good job. That should keep me out of trouble for a few days.

Other tasks: cataloguing digital photos, repairing an old watch, learning Indian cookery.

Oh, then there's always work I suppose. I can do pretty much all of my regular job from anywhere so long as I have internet access, a PC and a phone. Pity.

Anyone with a musical instrument they bought some time ago tried it, lost interest, now's the time to get it out, dust it off, and get going again. Keyboard, guitar, flute or even that Selmer Mk 6 tenor sax you bought on a whim
There's lots of play-alongs on Youtube, and with some instruments if you can read a bit there is a dynamic music score to follow.
But if you can't read music just have a go at learning stuff by ear.
And the more you practice the better you get.

Need to do some DIY, finally will have time to go fishing, until they ban that. Computer games. I don't think I will get bored.

I spent many years of my working life on a variety of camps, platforms and rigs so I hope hunkering down with a decent book and/or this machine will keep me amused.

However, SWMBO normally goes out for an hour or so walk every day, so I'm not sure how she will cope without going stir-crazy after a few days! It's not going to be easy for anyone I guess!

I thought self isolating is for if your ill amd/or your family are ill.

If that's the case I will be too ill or too busy to do anything out of the ordinary.

I'm going to dig out the pasta machine and try and perfect making ravioli. Also toying with having a go at refencing the garden.

If we are not, hiding in the garage on my turbo trainer, lol.

We've got a major DIY project going on as we're putting a corner bathroom in one of the bedrooms. Got everything we need except the mesh which covers the chipboard flooring, which is needed before we can lay the floor tiles. All DIY shops shut down here as they're deemed non-essential. The Wise-Ones been waiting nearly four years for this bath and is not best pleased.
(I do take her out for a hose down occasionally, in case you were wondering)
