I've found a thermowell on ebay from homebrew builder which a friend of mine recommended to me. However the specification says it will accept probes up to 6mil in diameter whereas my ATC 800 has a 7 mil width.Does anyone else use these and have they had the same problem?

if for beer in a FV i find packing insulation over the probe taped to the FV side works in my brewfridge.

if for hlt? just dangle it in ?

you can make your own 10mm copper tube or 3/8" SS tube can both be fitted fairly cheaply with gland/olive/compression type fittings.

to cap a ss tube you may need someone with a braizing torch and silver solder, the flux used for silver braizing is highly toxic, so really wash well.... or perhaps try crimping the end flat in a vice onto a blob of jbweld?
