With my engineer head on again. Boil tap water when it's dull windy and wet outside (low pressure system) and measure the boiling point. Do the same on a hot calm sunny day (high pressure) and the boiling point will be higher. Altitude also effects the temperature that water boils, on Everest water boils at 75 degrees C and no matter how much heat you apply to the pan it won't raise the the water temperature above 75 c.
