This is for the England fans if you have no interest in football please do not post as your posts and any quotes will be removed.

So Harry is to be captain and the pundits are already saying Gareth has got it wrong and should have chosen a defender as they see more of the game and make better leaders, I would not be England manager for all the tea in China!

I haven’t followed the PL or the England team particularly closely over the last season so take my analysis with a pinch of salt, but Kane seems a sensible choice to me. A high quality player who seems capable of inspiring others. I hope England play with a bit of flair in this tournament, assuming we aren’t going to win I’d almost rather we went out in a thriller than slogged to a draw and lost on penalties!

I haven't watched the in ages but like the look and attacking pace, i think I will catch a game or two and see how they get on.

I catch the odd bit of England game now and again if it's on at the right time.
I couldn't really comment on the players though as I don't get to watch much Premier League.
But when the world cup's on I'll be up whatever time. I'm not really expecting much, but I'm looking forward to it.

At least Kane has got the right (albeit slightly deluded) mindset, saying we can win the world cup. Positive thoughts and all that.

England never play as a team,
Always happens when they are in important games

I love football and the only positive I am taking from this world cup is we are doomed before we get there so I have zilcho expectations

You cannot throw a full squad of players together and hope they will perform as a team within a few months they need time to gel and the manager needs time to get them playing as a team not 11 individuals.

I don’t mind that though, looking forward to watching some really good teams without the tension that comes with expectations about England doing well!

As a Sunderland fan I’m probably biased, but I thought Jordan Henderson was the logical choice for captain.

Unlike Kane, he’s already captain of his club, and his club are in the European Cup final!

Never really cared about England since early 2000s, overpaid and they don't care about the national team, just dont want to get injured. They don't play with pride, and as a Newcastle season ticket holder I can safely say I don't expect to win anything, but I expect the players to try with everything they have. The national side don't, and the FA is so set in the past.

Each finals or the last 20 years or so I've put all the teams in a hat, pulled one out and that's who I support. I buy their shirt and learn about the culture more etc. I had Togo once. :laugh8:

Also a Sunderland fan, I think the same as you, Henderson should have been made captain he is more of a team player than Kane and will give orders for a team victory not just a goal for himself

Obviously my opinions on Henderson will differ to yours but for more than just because he's one of yours, but I think he'll do the job with or without the armband. He'll still marshall the back 3 and midfield regardless, armband means little in the grand scheme

So how come teams like Spain and Iceland () can ?

I don't get the deal with Kane either. I know he is the darling of all the media luvvies, but he has none of the attributes required of a captain, He doesn't play in an area of the pitch where he can observe and influence play, he has no experience as a club captain and he's not a great talker on the pitch. It's all starting to feel like the Euro's all over again, when the 6' 2" target man was taking free-kicks, corners and penalties, all terribly and we all remember how that turned out.

People said Leicester wouldn’t win the premiership and look what happened there.

I’d love us to go out there and win it.

Don’t agree with some of his decisions but then again, I’m sure he’d walk into my place and criticise some of my decisions.

Can’t wait !
