The Transit of Venus Real Ale Competition

Only one week to go!!!!

Monday 4th June 2012 , 3pm. At Band in the Park, St Michaels CofE school grounds Much Hoole PR4 5JQ

1. International Smallpack Beer Competition

Presented in Bottle 2 x 500ml crown capped with no obvious markings. Must be the work of a person/persons – not commercial
Class 1 for Ale 3.0% -3.9% ABV
Class 2 for Ale 4.0% -4.9% ABV
Class 3 for Ale 5.0% -5.9% ABV

The best Beer in each class will go through to the final

2. The judges will also be looking for an beer that would go well with an old style IPA(7.1%) and a stout in a box set of 3. 3. Some consideration will be given to its suitability for drinking during astronomical events.

Please state on your entry which %age category your beer falls into. One entry per class is permitted.

PRIZE First Place The winning entry will have their name engraved on the Transit of Venus Real Ale competition trophy - This will be awarded at an official ceremony during Guild week in September 2012. Their recipe will be stored inside the trophy which doubles as a time capsule. Work with Arkwright's brewery to produce their beer on a commercial scale. Receive one 9 x gallon cask.

The competition trophy will be on display during the Preston Guild 2012 celebrations in September 2012, after which it will be bequeathed to the residents of Much Hoole to safeguard until the next competition in 2117.

Category winners. Certificate A box set of Transit beer.

Judging
The competition will be judged by: Bill Lowe (who will also advise the amateur judges), Jeremy Rowlands, David Henckel, residents of Much Hoole (Eric Barker, Derek Baines + 2more) Arkwright's Brewery

Deadline for registration 3rd June 2012
Entries can be brought on the day or handed in to Arkwright's brewery (47 Lovat rd, Preston PR1 6DQ) by Sunday 3rd June 2012
