Good luck, don't worry about the odd **** up, I left a tap open Saturday and that's after 30 years of brewing. Just enjoy.

cheers troops, as I said I weighed out my grains earlier, my T-shirt is hoaching of sweet marris otter malt, could sit and sniff that smell all day! will hopefully get a few photos along the way.

Have a great day,you are going to love it!

There is a real sense of pride & satisfaction for me when I pour an AG pint-the thought that I made this from scratch.

Anybody can drink a good beer, it's a bit special when you can brew one yourself though.

If you haven't got any brewing software might I suggest downloading Brew Mate (it's free)It has a really handy timer for mashing & boiling. If you create a recipe with it it even tells you when to put in your late additions as well (just leave the sound up on your pc).

Enjoy

As you've been around the forum for about the same time as me I thought you were already into AG. Wow what a day for you, everything will go fine I'm sure. Take some photos and let us all know how it goes. :thumb: :thumb:

may aswell keep everyone updated, emptied hlt into mash tun and let sit for 10 mins, temp was at 74 degrees, added grains, checked temp afterwards and temp was about 66.2 degrees, spot on what i was looking for, the MT is all wrapped up, end of mashing should be around 10.15. yeeha this is good fun. emptying the grains into the tun has caused a bit of dust in the air and im sneezing like a madman now! got plenty of photos so will post them later. is it too early for a beer?

is it too early for a beer?

Are you a vicar?

I'ts never too early, just think of it as a continued drinking session from the night before, thats what i tell SWMBO

On a seriouse note, sounds as if it's going to plan

Brilliant, I'm sure all will go well, the journey has begun :thumb:

.... it's not as difficult as it sounds either, keep an eye on your '***** sheet' just to make sure and don't rush ;)

You'll be sat there tonight with a drink in your hand and a very satisfied glow .... planning the next one

Good to hear the first parts going well abe, have a great day, don't forget to enjoy yourself  :thumb: ....you'll never look back once you sample your wares :drink: :drunk:

still alive here, just incase folk think the wort monster has gobbled me up! everything is going fairly well and without problems. the mash tun I bought was meant to come with a copper manifold but they didnt have any made up and they have put in a mesh tube which has let some some bits of grain in, i re-circulated the first running about 4 times, 4 litres worth and it still wasn't as clear as I thought it would be but i think thats down to the mesh so nothing can be done, didn't lose any temp at all in the mash which I was quite proud of, i paid a bit extra for a good mashtun so im glad its doing its job (apart from the shitey wee mesh strainer!)
just waiting on it getting to the boil, ive got a 32 litre boiler with about 28.5 litres of wort in it, and got a few extra litres in an fv to top up with, didnt want to get a boil over and wreck the kitchen hob. hops all weighed out and ready to go! cracking day so far, the only thing that nearly went wrong was my wee dug Meg(pics to follow) picked up the scent of the first runnings and came over trying to drink the bloody stuff, I kept pushing her away but she wasn't having it, mad Spaniels man!
