I brewed a batch on Saturday which is the pinnacle of simple.

5 L batch
1Kg Marris Otter
7.5g EKG
1g protofloc
2g Nottingham Ale Yeast

Granted I'll probably only get 4 1 litre bottles from it, but I just wanted to see if a 1 gallon batch would work. I only have 4 litres in it to stop it over flowing during ferment but with a gravity around 1054 it should be toppable uppable in the bottling demi to get 4 usable bottles.

Currently fermenting away. It looks vile as the break material has all floated to the top leaving none at the bottom, literally an inch of grey brown break glop at the top.

I'm sure it will fall out to the bottom when the CO2 dies away as ferment finishes.... I hope.

Well I racked it into a new demi john on Saturday as I got sick of the sight of the break material floating. SG was 1010 which is about right.

Tasting the sample and it might have a bit of "band aid" flavour :( Maybe didn't rinse the DJ well enough.

Anyway, it's been in the secondary for 5 days now and hasn't really cleared. I think I'm going to give up on it clearing and bottle it tonight.
