As I get more and more into brewing and into quality ale in general, I think I am drinking less and less. A year ago I would have bought a case of Tennants (or whatever cheap lager was on special at the supermarket) and knocked back 8 cans in a night. Now I'll either drink a few of my own beer or buy 3-4 different craft ales. I think especially with the beer you have brewed yourself, you value it so highly that I rarely have more than 2-3 a night...never 8 or 9. Well maybe once or twice :drunk:

Yeah I have found the same, I think that because I'm appreciating the beer more I drink it slower. I guess drinking generic commercial lager/beer you are doing so less for the taste and more for the effect. Now that I have a number of quality ales at my disposal all of the time I really "enjoy" drinking rather than just getting pissed! Ha ha!

Yep... I agree, I brew loads of beer and drink very little of it, the wife now drinks it, my dad is a big fan, My brother in law, bloke down the street, friends from CAMRA etc...I might brew 10 gallons and drink 1.

But it helps you perfect your selected craft. You will improve no end with practice

You're right.

I reckon I drink 25 % of what I brew.

The rest is shared with friends or given away.

And that's nice

i also find that our brews are heavier and can't be drank the way i would of done with piss water (canned lager) more of enjoying what i have rather than getting it down my neck fast (ish) etc :thumb: although i once only drank at the weekends (but lots) now i'm drinking all week (but only 1 a day some days none others a few) :thumb: , i'm now drinking because i love what i'm drinking and not what it may do (p.s my beers also a little stronger too )

Yes, another here who drinks less .... but drinks 'better'.

I really enjoy brewing, brewdays are not a task, they're a good relaxing day I find.

As for drinking it, weekends I'll have a couple or three each day, but during the week I may have just an odd bottle, similar to others I give a fair bit away and appreciate the feedback :thumb:

I drink more now i brew but i've never had much self control  :drink:
