Well the last shop has gone. I have a hambilton bard beer Cyphere. with a large S30 gas cylinders. I can't get them now the shops wont send them because it is a pressurised container and the cost would be more than the product.

What's available now? The small sparklets won't pressurise a barrel. They have to be used all up (Not seal-able)

This is a massive step down.

Do you ever travel? My S30 cylinder lasts 6-12 months so for the cost it would be worth buying another and exchanging it when you're in a town with a homebrew shop.

To be honest, I don't know how these local shops keep going, price seems to be the bottom line for many and so mail order and Wilco have taken a slice of the market. I know I wouldn't be homebrewing if it wasn't for the help and advice I got from the local shop, we should support them more (although I'm as guilty as others for using mailorder, free postage vs paying a fiver to park in town etc.).

Are these people still going?
They are now based at Elvington apparently, and although internet based you can visit them personally (or so it says)

Yep, they are going strong. On the Airfield Industrial estate and they have a walk in counter service for everything on their website. I've been visiting them a fair bit recently.

I would add that they seem very helpful and even if it isn't on their site, they may be able to get it for you if you collect...

Edit: Just seen they have them for instore collection only at £24.95.

Yeah I popped in there while on a break up in York a few weeks ago...everything available from their counter (it's not a shop you can browse) and at the same online prices. They even let me use £5 e credit I had earned from shopping online with them. Plenty of free parking and easy to find..just watched the exits off the big roundabout as you head down the lane they are on!

Cheers

Clint

Yes. I used to rely more on the CO2 then the secondary fermentation. I use a lot more sugar now. The local shop service is by far the best especially if you are new to it. Every time I tell someone about my home brew there immediate reaction is "Is it strong". Modern people are so ignorant of the art of home brewing and it is exciting. There is defiantly a market to introduce people to this.

I will take a trip to the airfield next month. I have 2 cylinders so I can do both.

Has anyone got an opinion on these very small soda syphon cylinders?
