We usually have turkey athumb.. I've got 4 cornies and about to order a couple more, kegerator built during lockdown and won't turn back to bottling ever, ever, ever......you get the picture I'm sure. Good luck with your new adventure.

Looking forward to any updates! Ive been toying with the idea of keg conditioning and using a blichman beer gun to bottle from keg. I like the idea of eventually having a closed loop from ferentation to bottle that I can C02 purge to stop oxidation (I want to move on to brewing NEIPA and everything i have read/seen/heard says oxygen is the enemy with NEIPA's)

I don't know why but I do like bottles, especially as I plan on brewing with different friends and family so it's easier to split when bottling.

You likely won't have to wait long, as I'm down to my last four bottles of the last brew (OMG - panic)
I don't know about the Bilchman beer gun, but the doofah bottom right of my photo is a 'Pluto' beer gun, so it will be interesting to see how that compares to my trusty bottling stick.
I know what you mean about bottles when it comes to sharing. I do still plan to do a handful, if only because the capacity of the corny is 19ltrs and I generally brew 23... My Graham Wheeler book suggests that (in his opinion) even you're going to bottle, the beer benefits from a period of maturation in cask - I think his main argument is that you should vent off the volatile 'Fusel oils' that can otherwise cause off-flavours if they are locked up in the bottle....?

Anyhow, I've now successfully connected up the regulator to my full sized gas bottle without blowing the side of the house or asphyxiating myself, so not far off committing to the next brew :-)

Just out of interest, did you go for reconditioned ones or newies? I umm'd and ahh'd about it and eventually plumped for a new 'A.E.B.' one from The Malt Miller, because I could get it quick and I'm not exactly renowned for my patience... LoL

If you decide to go down the kegerator/keezer route then it will help that you got the new ones as they're slightly smaller in diameter (though taller to compensate).

I bought new mostly (a second hand one from a forumite). I'd sooner pay £20 or £30 more and have a decent new one TBH. AEB ones are really top notch and I have a couple of them.
 
Bought a brand new corny last week & dumped a freshly fermented brew into it for secondary & conditioning. Finished building my keezer, sourced a CO2 bottle & force carbonated it. Started drinking it last Friday and it's been fantastic. Consistent pints with no obvious change in flavour or quality. Bottling has it's place, but I'm not sure I'll be bothering again. Have space for two more cornys, so once funds allows I'll get them bought & start a little production line - one drinking, one force carbonating, one conditioning, and the Fermentasaurus fermenting :beer1:
 
Ooo-Kay... filled up the new A.E.B. Corny on Tuesday and gave it a couple of PSI; but by today there was no pressure. Re-gassed it, applied a bit of washing up liquid and saw some very unwelcome bubbles. Grrr.

Having read about the importance of getting the lid the right way round I'd carefully marked it when it was delivered; but after carefully removing and cleaning the 'O' ring, sanding down the mating surfaces with 400 grade wet abrasive paper, and applying a liberal smear of (ahem) 'personal lubricant' it was still leaking... and in the same ruddy place, too.

SOoo to cut a long story short, in the end I tried the lid the other way round (180º out from the way it was delivered); and THAT fixed it immediately. Cautionary tale!

The lid handle is supposed to press down on the opposite side to where the posts are. Which way around have you found to be the one that works?
 
Thanks... OK, this is the way round that doesn't leak: the other way it always leaks at the place arrowed (relative to the body, not the lid). Not sure about which 'side' the posts are on?\View attachment 31636
Ah I see. Your keg is a different (newer?) design to my AEB. On mine the posts are offset to one end and it doesn't have cutouts in the rubber. Very like this picture that I fished off the internet:

Yes mine are all like this - did wonder what @The-Engineer-That-Brews meant. Actually edit have just checked the brand new AEB half size one that arrive yesterday and it does indeed have posts to the sides. I will have to pay attention when sealing.

That must simplify things :-) Sounds like you're fortunate; or perhaps my lid/cask got a little distorted during manufacture - I tried everything to get it seal the original way round, but it always leaked in the same place. There seems to be a bit of a knack to getting the lid 'in' properly too - I found it necessary to slightly pull it up at the far end before applying the handle.

I can't quite work out why the handle attachments points are offset... it would seem to make more sense for them to be in the middle so that both halves of the lid are pulled up with equal force. Perhaps it makes it easier to get the lid in and out.

You may need a bit more than a “couple of PSI” to seat the lit. I have a couple where I only hear the Lid click in place properly once I get up to over 20 PSI. After that I can drop it serving Pressure after a day or so and it stays in place nicely sealed.
