Well, I'm 65. Been brewing since the 1960s, with only a few interruptions.
Perhaps I'm fooling myself, but I hope that this has no relevance to the age of the average home brewer :-?
After all these years, I'd be devastated to learn that I'm not a pretty damned good home brewer..... :-x
Mind you, if you wanted to count me to determine the average age of home brewers, then please do so.....

I'll get my coat........

47 and feeling every year of it! Brewing less than six months for myself but I used to make a boots kit and keg it for my dad when I was a teenager, it tasted like boiled sh*te so I never drank it myself therefore it didn't count.

56 and only been brewing around 18 months. Loving it but I'm loving building the brewery/kit almost as much as the beer! [emoji1]

Same here. I love building the kit almost as much as drinking the beer haha

40 been brewing just over a year. I went on the Bermondsey mile and was sold on drinking good beer. It turns out if you want to drink good beer with out spending a fortune then homebrew is the way to go..

I feel old now!

I am coming up to 63 this Christmas. My first brew was when I was around 14! It was a stout kit, and it smelled terrible (or so I thought), so I poured it down the toilet. Now, I think it was probably fine - I just didn't know what it was supposed to smell like.

I restarted when I was at college, and continued on and off for a few years. Then there was a long gap and I again restarted a few years ago here in France, initially with kits, then boil in the bag and now a 50l Braumeister. The paucity of decent beer (to my taste) around here is the main driving force for me to have invested as much as I have in homebrewing. Hopefully I can develop my skills/knowledge/techniques sufficiently to ensure repeatable results every time!

I know this story!!!

Started at college courtesy of Muntons and 9 cases of empty Newcastle Brown bottles that I borrowed from the medical students bar. Kept the bottles for a further 25 years before restarting last year after 4 years in the Alps in Chamonix, France.

Like Steve I find the beer here very limited so was keen to brew something that I'd drink at home - Landlord etc. Now happily churning out all sorts of brews on a 3 vessel set up.

43 and still feeling 16....must be those hops and mountain air!

40, did a one can kit when I was around 20 and then nothing until about 18 months ago when I started all grain brewing after reading about BIAB.

I've now done about 20 brews since then and loving it, so have definitely got the bug.

I'm now feeling really, really old ...

... so I'm off to pour a nightcap to get to sleep. :thumb: :thumb:
You should be feeling enthusiastic now knowing that you are helping to keep this fantastic hobby on the boil🍺👌

I'm 29 and a fanatical biker, hence my love of real beer it seems to go with the scene.
The 1st time i loved beer was when I had my 1st sip of Newcastle Brown Ale at 18.
Then I moved and guiness was the drink of choice for many years.
Went back to Broon recently as my local now stocks it, and it tastes like absolute "p*ss watta".
Transpires somethings have changed with it, such as its now on tadcaster water, theyve removdd malts and all sorts.

So then, i thought I can do better which promoted me to attempt a home brew. So.gar i have my Medium spray malt, bottle caps,100 bottles and bottle carriers crates etc. Building stock. Acuiring my 1st brew kit before xmas.

That prompted me to look for a forum and here I am. Immersed in a wealth of knowledge :D

Welcome to the forum rex as I have quite a feel for biking and beer myself as they both seem to go hand to hand.I mean of the bike at a rally get a beer then pitch the tent.

It does! :thumb: :thumb: Right up until the moment when you arrive at a corner that you forgot about and finish riding it using the raised bit of grass verge to get round the bend and your right pedal is scraping along the road!

Went into the bend more than mildly drunk and came out the other side stone-cold sober with the oath "I will never drink and ride my bike again."

I think the oath actually started as a prayer and was prefixed with "If I get round this bend in one piece God, I will ..."

As a result I didn't mix the two from thereon.

It was bad enough keeping an eye on the idiots in cars, vans and lorries who seemed determined to kill me ...

... without giving them an advantage! :nono: :nono:

Im 45 and the other way around. A beer lover who wants to get into biking. Most people say Im having a mid-life crisis but in reality I have just had more than enough of the absolutely awful traffic near me. Motorbikes are allowed to use the bus lanes so I can cut 40 minute journeys down to 10 minutes. My old commute used to take up to 1 1/2 coming home wth normal traffic. With a bike it would have been 45 mins.
