I'm no Tory but describing a general election that came about through legislation laid down by a parliament elected in another general election as a 'coup' is hugely insulting, we live in a liberal democracy and are lucky to do so, many millions around the world don't.

i think we lost democracy years ago.

I think you will find modern conservatism is the new counter :thumb:

Leftist support Clinton, she is pro big business, pro establishment, pro mass immigration.
Leftists support the EU, the EU is pro big business, pro establishment, pro mass immigration.

The revolution will come from the right.
Because one day soon Europe will have enough of having their generosity thrown in their faces.
Many of Markel's special guests view Europe's kindness as weakness.
Even the liberal Swedes will become sick of having their women ***** and large sections of their cities becoming no go zones.
Not to mention the cost of maintaining these 'guests' who are benefit hungry and are disproportionately criminally inclined.
Then there is the terrorism issue and the vast costs that involves as well as making our societies more watched and less free.

The EU and Merkel in particular have failed the people of Europe when it mattered and one day soon the people will be looking for retribution.

So what you are saying is that the meek shall not inherit the Earth!

Power corrupts - And absolute power......Hmmm
Most MP's do want to serve their constituents as best they can, as do local councillors, most are not in it for the money. However...the closer one gets to the top
Do we need this election - I think not, Westminster has enough on its plate at the moment, this is a stupid distraction, we have local and some places Mayoral elections. We, the people, elected a government to serve for 5 years and it should not be in the hands of the PM to change that.
Rant over!!
Anyway I'm consoling myself with 4 days at LCCC starting tomorrow, Lancs v Somerset, and planning a SMASH CITRA brewday on Tuesday, some of us have important things to do!
Cheers

Most MPs are not in it for the money eh?.... so how come most of them immediately sign up as directors for companies for thousands of pounds per year for "advice". Look at George Osborne he had more jobs all at once than most people have in a lifetime. their altruism does not pay for their million pound houses.

No we did not need this election it's about self serving tories trying to maintain their position and destroying the opposition, not helping the country. May was not answering any questions yesterday in PMQs except for spraying bile at Corbyn, if she is so confident then why the personal assault!

Love the last paragraph because in reality most people will just get on with the rest of their lives and make the best of it. The only way to change it is to be actively involved at the top level and subject yourself to ridicule and abuse but also reap the rewards. Gone are the days when mere people with principles and objectives to truly put the people first can become MPs, Corbyn is probably the last of a dying breed and look what it has got him. Whatever you think of him you cannot say he is out for himself.

God I hope so! There's enough McDonalds, cheap crappy lager, council sink estates, migrants who get everything paid for by us and signing-on places as it is without giving them more encouragement.

Funny how stuff just....

goes around in circles.

centralise the de-centralised.
in-source the outsourced.
specialise the generalized

and vice versa ad infinitum.

when you get old enough to have witnessed a few of these cycles you tend to lose faith in humanity's ability to truly progress, although every now and then you get an Archimedes, Einstein or even elon musk to give us a bit of hope.

I'm a ying/yang sort of fan.

With out love you cannot have hate, with out law you cannot have chaos. The problem in this world is Greed and power and while ever there are humans on this planet you will have suffering , war , cruelty, and corruption. In the guise of various ideals . Religion should be abolished along with politics. It is the cause or curtain that those seeking what i have mentioned above hide behind. Religion was thought up to control the people in one form or other, No one can give me even the smallest morsel of information proving any form of god worshiping religion to be real , The only religion is the one inside your self. how you decide to run your life and the treatment of fellow man, unfortionatally a lot of people fail to follow this most important of religions hence bringing me back to power greed hate politics and invented religions etc etc

Nope still reads like it was written by a small Austrian with one testicle. Substitute the word guest for jew and read it back to yourself.

I just tried that and it made no sense, due to none of those accusations being relevant to Jews either then or now.

I have yet to see any record Jews escaping Europe during the war, repay their host countries with ****, terror and criminality?

For some reason Hitler didn't mention Jews much after the war. Very much his tone in the mid to late 1920s, try googling Mein Kampf.

lol least because he died in his bunker in 1945 unless you subscribe to one on the many conspiracy theories.

Still it's taken more than one page for this thread to go from Theresa may to Hitler so we're definitely improving :thumb:

p.s. my spell checker capitalised Hitler :-o should I be worried ?

Who is insulted? Hugely.

We're having a mangled election now because the Tories couldn't resist their own internal tensions, and a cavalier, didn't-read-the-small-print, but eminently chillaxed PM tossed a dice he didn't realise was loaded.

Our democracy can't maintain pace with social media.

You want me to go out and do a poll? Shall I start with the several hundred million people in the world who have never had the opportunity to cast a vote in their lives and quite possibly never will? If we're going to take every word in every post literally shall I ask you to explain what about this election is mangled? I'm well aware of the circumstances in which the election has come about and I'm not going to enjoy the likely outcome, but 'coup' it most certainly is not.

You're comparing apples and oranges (loudly).

Common ground, though. I'm aware of relative socio-political context. You're aware (in agreement?) of how the election has come about.
