Hello from Hedge End in Hampshire. Thanks for allowing me to join the Forum, I have found it very interesting and useful so far. I have been home brewing for over 50 years and now, having taken early retirement, I am getting into all grain brewing with a Speidel Braumeister and a local church group. We have been going just over a year and have produced some excellent ales including a Harvest Ale using green hops (Cascade & Goldings) grown in the vicarage garden. I am new to all this forum type lark so I am not sure where to post queries so forgive me if I get it wrong at times. As we strive to produce perfection there are more questions that arise. I'll be back to seek your advice I expect.

@Red Moon
Welcome to the Forum.
You started about the same time I did.
Homebrewing now is almost unrecognisable from then.
Hop choice, goldings and fuggles loose in a plastic bag, that was it. LME, or grain if you were lucky.
Boots the Chemist or perhaps a fledgling LHBS for your stuff.
And jumpers for goalposts.
Now there's so much to choose from, so many places to buy, and so much exposure to different things.
And there are Forums on tinterweb like this where you can exchange ideas.
Brilliant athumb..

Hi, welcome to the forum.
I lived in Hedge End for a while about 25 years ago, just around the corner from the Fountain.
You should find plenty of help and advice of this forum, don't be afraid to ask.

Welcome to The Forum.

Love the "brewing with a Speidel Braumeister and a local church group". That beats the Church Whist Drives I used to attend in my youth!

Welcome, Red Moon. After 50 years, you should know you way around a half-pint mug by now, one would have thought. I can only boast 48 years myself. Are you the vicar, then, as you grow hops at the vicarage? I know Hedge End a bit as my dad and step mum moved there from Spain (makes no sense to me either). You'll soon get the hang of the forum, I'm sure. I joined Saturday and am beginning to feel like an old hand. Happy brewing.

I had to do a double-take when I saw the "Red Moon" name and pic. A rather dishy friend of mine goes by the name of Red Moon. She's looking for a husband, too. Lives near Chengdu, if anyone is interested.....
