Tettnang substitue

I have a recipe for a Dusseldorf Altbier and I have gone and forgotten to buy the 15 hop addition which is Tettnang. I have some Saaz so is that the obvious sub? Or does anyone have another suggestion as I have quite a few different hops stored in the freezer.

Yes, saaz is a good sub, tastewise for tettnang but its not German. If you want to go for something a bit more authentic to style a German noble hop like spalt select is a good alternative (and is the hop used in my GH book for the Dusseldorf Alt beer recipe)

Unfortunately don't have that but I do have Hallertauer Hersbrucker.

I would use saaz. Made some nice lagers just using that. Made one last week with tettnanger so going to be interesting tasting the difference.

If your more interested in using what you have in your stock rather than going out and buying a hop for this brew. I would use the saaz as its a good flavour sub for tettnang
