EH up,

Just been to Teswas and bought a few bottles for the weekend, Tetleys Gold 4.5%abv on the shelf. As I havn't seen it before I thought that I would have a good shufty at the bottle and can deffo see a good smear of yeast in the bottom of the bottle...

Anyone got any ideas as to if this is a good un, or is it a bottling only yeastie..

Surprised, never heard of Tetleys bottle conditioned beers before.

Neither had I Dennis...However, I will not have time to use it at the moment, I have a batch of 75 litres going with Hopback, when that is out of the fermenter, I have WLP004 from Good Ed that I will do a mild with ( I am stepping that up at the moment).

I had one of the bottles of Tetleys last night and can honestly say I was underwhelmed...Ill keep a bottle in the garage until after xmas.

For the record, the hopback yeast is easy peasy to work with. It kicked off within 3 hours and is now trundling along at 20 degrees like a train. Whilst stepping this one up, it when it finished each step it dropped out of suspension like a brick, I had to spoon it out of the last step into the full batch as it clumped up that much. I can imagine it would be brilliant for bottling. As I retrieved it from a bottle of Hopback Summer Lightening I can imagine its great for the big hoppy pales that I like to do
