I put 21l of Beaverdale Rioja on yesterday and placed the bin on a brewing heat pad in my garage.

The brew went loopy and having misplaced my thermometer in a house move went to the aquarium shop this morning and bought a thermometer and just in case a 50w aquarium heater.

Got home checked the temp and found out its spent 24 hours at 80 degrees.

Quickly made up a water bath in a horse feed bucket and put it in with the aquarium heater set to 70 degrees.

Hope I haven't messed it up.

If the converter I just used is right you are only one degree Celsius above what my kit instructions say is the maximum you should let it get to (25c) so I don't think you will have done any harm.

Ta,
I'm really wanting to make the best of the kit and the instructions say keep it as close to 20 degrees as possible. So other than the advised change of yeast to lalvin I am going to do the kit to the letter as the next one I have planned at £80.00 for the kit I wont be able to afford to mess that up.
