TC starter

On Thurs 12th Nov I began a yeast starter for a TC.
2 ltrs Apple juice and 1 packet of Youngs Cider yeast (dried).
This was put on the stirrer plate and the air turned on.
Today Mon 16th Nov the yeast head decides to start forming – 4 days!
My 24 year old yeast only took 2 ½ days.
Is this typical of dried cider yeast or Young’s in particular?

i used the Youngs Cider yeast on my first batch of TC, i didnt bother to re-hydrate it i just put it into the DJ dry, within 16ish it was fementing like a mad man.

Why bother making a starter from a cheap dried yeast? just pitch more

Cider doesn't foam up like beer as it doesn't have the proteins and glucans that beer does
