Hi guys,

So I made my first lager with a beginners kit, which was good fun. The taste was ok and it was pretty strong so all in all, I want to do it again, but this time without the little beginners kit. I have a pressure barrel, drum etc etc most of the kit I need. So I guess I just need to buy hops, yeast and sugar. Am I right? For making lager. Any recommendations on hop type and locations to buy?

Thanks

Hi Doyley, good to see you looking to experiment.

I am a bit unsure on what you are trying to achieve? Are you thinking of modifying a kit, an extract brew or going the whole hogg and turning to the dark side with an all grain?

Hi Dunfie,

I guess I'm not sure myself. I guess I don't want to empty the contents of a kit into a barrel and leave it for two weeks, I'd like to buy the ingredients myself and actually make the beer :D

I would try reading (a lot) of the older threads in the board index. The more you read, the more things will make sense, & then :thumb:, you will know what questions to ask.
Bugger, you beat me to it Dunfie :D

You sound pretty confident! i mean, it may be just that i dont want to spend a lot at the moment or because i want to perfect Kits. but i've done a few kits now and i'm still not going to do all-grain for at least another 6 months. expensive but well worth it (i've heard)

Good luck with whatever you do! :D
