hi,

im on my second batch of young's ubrew cider. it says it takes about 7 days to brew or when it starts to clear. only problem is it actually takes more like 3 weeks and even then i don't think it's right. i bottle it. add a teaspoon of sugar and leave it for another three days. but then i get more sediment in each bottle. why???? it tastes alright and i always add a bit of apple juice on serving anyway.

so can anyone help.

andy

This problem will look after itself.
Pretty soon you will build up a stock of drink, then you can be drinking completed cider while at least one or two batches are fermenting and settling in bottles, also pour in one go leaving the sediment behind.

when you bottle and add your sugar the yeast in suspension ferments the teaspoon of sugar (producing CO2 for the fizz) then drops out of suspension as the cider clears giving you some sediment. Just chill and pour carefully - if you like cider you should try making a batch of turbo cider :thumb:

Turbo Cider (TC) is just apple juice - cheap cartons from the supermarket and yeast!
