Used to get 1p chewing gum from Mrs Chan who had the shop next door to my mams house...she charged 2p for them!
Fake ****,coconut tobacco, fruit salads, toffee log, blackjacks, sherbet dip (dog didn't care much for it!)those chocolate buttons with 100s and 1000s stuck to them, flying saucers. Me and my mate used to wait for Mrs Chan to go out then nip into the shop and sit on the floor until Wendy the shop assistant, who was a pushover, gave us sweets to clear off!
Who went looking for pop bottles to get the 2p return money?

Chocolate limes (still buy them regularly today)

White mice, pink mice, strawberry bonbons, white chocolate buttons with 100s and 1000s stuck to them, aniseed balls, coconut mushrooms, sour dummies.

Who went looking for pop bottles to get the 2p return money?
We did that :D

1/4lb of midget gems, brandy balls or clove rock would have been my confection of choice back in the day. I was partial also to a lucky mine because you had the chance of finding a 1p coin embedded in it! A health and safety nightmare. 😂
