ok scott do i ...
put it all in ...
or just some of it ...

The lot! The way I do it is to boil 3L of water and dump all the fermentables in. Bring it back to the boil very briefly while mixing/stirring everything in and then just dump it into the FV. Top up with water, check the temp, sprinkle the yeast and the jobs a goodun.

That's a lot of fermentable material to dump in the brew. I'm on my last 4 bottles of it and used 1kg of BKE, I brewed short to 20 litres and came out with 4.5% ABV. If it was stronger I think it would ruin the taste. The beer itself doesn't carry a lot of body.

Good luck with the brew!

Brewed to 23L it won't be far off what you had, but with the additional DME it'll bulk it up a little better than yours. Should be bags of flavour :)

If you want it sweet then you want more unfermentable sugars so don't use cane sugar and brew enhancers , use dark and medium dme it will have good body and retain a little sweetness and keep the hops low so allow the sweetness to come through i would also advise no higher than 5.5% abv imo.

ok guys and gals ....

its sweet newkie brown time ... :D .

i went up wilkos and got another fv...
and stick on thermometer.. ;) .

i sanitised it and all my stuff then ..

next i heated my newkie kit in hot water for 15 mins ...

then added 6 pints of boiling water in to my fv...

next i put the newkie mix in and gave it a dam good stir ...

followd by the muntons beerkit enhancer...
i then gave it a dam good whisking ...
and a dam good stir with my spoon...

next in went the 500g of dark spray malt ....
and my 1kg bag of brewing sugar ...
followed by yes you guest it ...
a dam good whisking and a dam good stir with my big spoon...

so all in and mixed up very well..
so in went the cold water ....
i took a temp reading at 20ltrs it was on track...
so i filled it up to the 23ltr mark ...

and took a hydrometer reading ...

it was 1.060.....

so in went the yeast ...

i gave it a gentle stir...

then poped the ild on and taped it down ...

next i fitted the air lock ...
and filled it with vodka ...

so job done ...
the temp is at at 22/21c
heres a few pics ... :) .

Great job mate, surprised at the OG being so high, I would have expected 1.050-1.055... but with it being a newkie brown I guess there's loads of heavies in the tin :D

What a cracking fridge you're going to have :D

Sounds good! The higher ABV is actually more faithful to the original recipe. It was originally based on the stronger brown ales drank by the soldiers in Belgium in the First World war. When it was made here, people got a bit rowdy after a few so they toned it down a bit.
