ive tried quiet a few now and had mixed results. what type of juice do you use and what do you reckons the best for making wine. some people i no use from concentrate and also from pure juices.

I only tried wine once from supermarket juice, bought white grape juce from Lidl, Tried it and thought it was horrid. A friend made pineapple wine and that wasnt too bad, very strong though. I spose a few of my turbo ciders were really wines looking at the strengths, they were very nice too.

I think the ones I have enjoyed most have been from pure juice, topped up with sugar/honey if need be.

What you got planned?

Dammit... thats where I bought my grape juice from... I gotta pinepple on the go to though so all may not be lost... when you say strong... as in taste or %??

Most supermarket grape juices seem to be “pure pressed” and not from concentrate.

Other juices are usually from concentrate.

As long as you use one grape juice plus one other, you should usually end up with something quite decent.

If you ferment the grape juices on their own it probably won't work because they are pressed from mostly dessert grapes, unless you use the Welch's Purple grape juice which is pressed from the Concord grape, which is an average to inferior wine grape.

This is probably why mine was so bad, I just used one type, didn't think to mix.

As for the pineapple, it had a very high alcohol content and had a horrible spirit taste for months, a bit like TC does. I think it took 4 months plus to become drinkable in small amounts. I have no idea how much sugar he added before pitching, but it was far too much!

White grape juice + pineapple juice (to the Wurzel's Orange method) is quite a good one in my opinion.

Added sugar should only be in the region of 800g to the gallon or 900g if using 5 litre water bottles.

Have you made GJ & PJ Moley??
Regularly, I class it as a ‘Tropical WOW’, but someone once asked about printing labels and the mental image of Wurzel in a greass skirt has given me nightmares ever since. His real name's Paul and he's an ugly fokker at the best of times.

If you ever get up to making larger volumes, 3L WGJ + 1L Orange + 1L Pineapple + 1L Grapefruit to a 3 gallon brew makes something vaguely like a Pinot Grigio.

A Pineapple WOW does indeed make something very decent. Made a couple of those.
