As I have said previously make sure you get as much real juice in as possible.
Paradoxically the higher the alcohol content the more "watery" a wine can taste.
Its not nice.

Its a good idea to remember on the continent adding water or extra sugar to wine is "verboten"

Juice is comparability cheap as chips anyway as grand p-pa used to say don't spoil a ship for the want of a hap-penny of tar.
Any pure fruit juice will do it does not have to be grape.

A well made WOW can be superb wine and a pleasure to your friends and really enhance your social standing,Once this blasted virus is out of the way that is.
I had went to Morrison's we only have that and Tesco, and was disappointed what they had on offer, I will have a look in Tescos and see what fruit juices they have on offer

almost any kind of juice will produce a nice wine
The only real rule is to make sure its not full of sulphites and sorbates.

WOW - it's not February. I made a WOW from grapefruit juice, which appeared to have stopped at 0.992, so I added syrup back to 1.000 and put it in the garage, where it happily sat but didn't seem to be clearing. Now I know why, I went to move it today, and it's fermenting again. Will be interested to see how long it takes to ferment out and if it does eventually clear. I didn't like the taste much when I put it away, so will see what that is like too. Still learning...
 
The Apple wine I started on 22/05 stuck at 1040 for over a week as i used a standard red wine yeast and as I used 1 kilo sugar to 3 litres of juice , I think it stalled out as yeast couldn’t handle alcohol content. So have added some yeast nutrient and an high alcohol tolerant yeast, next time will dial back the sugar
 
Hello. I wonder if anybody could help :) I have been browsing this thread for a while and while I have made few kit wines, embarked on the forum favourite rose today after a quick visit to Waitrose for their Merlot grape juice. (Bubbling happily within half an hour of assembly) Now the question and I do apologise was probably answered before, once fermented, stabilised and de-gassed - the sachet finings A and B state they clear up to 25l - do I only use a portion of them for a gallon? Sorry a really silly question - probably already answered many times! Thank you very much
 
It would be helpful if you could specify which fining product you have please? I have Kwik Clear in front of me, and the instructions state 1 to 2 ml of A and B per 4.5 Litres, and to use the same quantity of each. I would have expected your finings to come with instructions??
 
Yes, just use a portion. A gallon is 4.5 litres so you need only about a fifth of the contents, give or take, don't worryabout exactitude.

Do most of you follow the 2+2+2 rule with the supermarket juice wine? My RGJ and AJ wine has been fermenting for 9 days now and bubbles slowed to one every minute or so. I know its not ready to rack yet but if it stops bubbling say after 12 days, would I rack then or wait for the full 14 days?
 
No the 2 + 2 + 2 rule is for beer, juice wine normally takes 7 to 10 days then a couple of days for clearing and bottling then most are drinkable straight away.
 
Some of my juice wines have taken three weeks or longer. fermenting. Take the SG two days apart; if it's still dropping wait, unless you have reached your target FG or ABV%. But some are very quick.
 
I think I am going a bit crazy with making wine :) look forward to trying it. Currently have quite a batch on the go. Banana, Rhubarb, Range rose and couple of WOW - original forum rose favourite and modified on where I banged a bottle of Rock organic blackcurrant in instead of some of the apple juice and adjusted sugar... we shall see how it ends up :). I know that the country wines will take loooonnngggg time but hopefully have enough on the go of the quick ones to keep supplies up :)

I will give it some time and taste a bottle in a month , 3 and 6 and a year. I will find a variety I like. Going to make some pineapple wine from juice tomorrow and try my first black cherry jam wine as well

I guess different types of WOW's vary in their fermentation mode. I will leave mine a little longer then.
 
Right. Those 2 RGJ and AJ have now been racked into 2 DJ's with some kwik clear and one campden tablet in each, then topped with AJ to about an inch from the top.

Just started an RGJ and AMJ! (apple 85%and mango15%). Total juice sugars 382 gms. Added 750 gms. of white table sugar; total 1132 gms. Strong cup of green tea - 3 bags, for tannin. Yeast, Pectolase and Yeast Nutrient 1 tsp. of each. Hope it turns out okay?!
