I had a couple of friends over and asked them to help me design a recipe for a stout.

They do not know much about brewing and we ended brewing a rather hoppy stout.

OG 1.064

6kg 2 row
0.3 chocolate
0.3 roasted barley
0.2 carapils
0.2 crystal 60

Boil size 14l

60min 50g nugget 15aa
60min 20g admiral 12aa
30min 20g Columbus 16aa
30min 20g admiral
5min 20g mystery hops 10aa?
5min 20g Columbus
0 min 20g Target

s-04 yeast

They pretty much demolished my hop supply.
It smells fantastic.
Has anyone brewed anything similar?

cheers

Nothing similar, yet. My stout wasn't hop laden that I did last year but turned out well. My Mikkeller milk stout I've just done has very minimal hops in too . Be interested to hear how this turns out and tastes!

Sounds good! I plan to make this soon, not made a hoppy stout before, so don't know how it will turn out.

20ltr

OG 1064
FG 1013 (think this will be higher)
IBU 65
SRM 41
ABV 6.7%

5kg Weyermann Pale
350g Roasted Barley
200g Crystal Medium
200g Chocolate Malt
150g Flaked Barley

25g Magnum 60min
25g Amarillo 20min
25g Amarillo 5min
75g Amarillo 0min
100g Amarillo 7 day dry hop

Ferment with US-05

Not really the same thing - no roasted barley & much lighter - but I really enjoyed this:

I called it an 80/- but like your stout way too hoppy of course for the style. Delicious, though!

I made a hoppy dry stout with 120g of Simcoe, EKG and Fuggles. Loved it. You guys are pushing the hop much further. I'm pretty sure the results will be good.

They sound interesting brews. Although at present i am only doing extract's i might have to try doing a hopped up stout:thumb:

Ok I cracked it open a little early and I must say it is pretty delicious.
Wasn't sure how this would turn out.
Crazy bitterness but it is balanced with quite a high ABV about 7% and it's lusciously thick.

Head retention is wonderful!

Also with the help of a helpful GF, we came up with a label.
Label needs to be spray mounted. ~Just stuck on with cellotape
