Brewed a Summer Ale extract kit today with EKG and Progress hops....

Bubbling nicely at 21 degs....

Hoping the cooler nights brings that done a couple of degrees tonight.

Pics to follow when I work out how to get them from IPad to PC then to the thread :wha:

Normally when testing the OG, which was 1.036, I take a little sip from the tube. It normally tastes very weak but drinkable....this one left a very bitter taste in the mouth and I nearly hurled.... ....never steeped grains before today and I'm hoping it was this that made it so foul tasting, and it rectifies through ageing.

Cheers

Steve

sounds like it was the hops , you may of used too many (if you brewed less to make it stronger) or its just a hoppy recipe . The hops will fade and settle so it may be great after conditioning

There must be an ipad Photobucket app, there is for my Android phone. Set up a photobucket account, upload to it direct from ipad, paste the links that appear under the pic into here.

I wouldn't worry about excessive hoppiness. The fermentation will remove some of it and maturation will calm down what's left
