I've ordered this element via Amazon for my HLT Sanke keg build (which is coming along nicely, will post pics when completed).

It's coming from China and will be here in the next day or so.

My questions are has anyone else got one of these or similar, and how do they perform, and are they suitable for heating 50l of water upto 80 - 85c?

This particular one is rated at 3KW and seemed a cracking price for a stainless steel element, also it doesn't appear to require you to bore a massive 63mm hole in the side of your tank to fit (which is great news after having already had a nightmare punching two 21mm holes for sightglass)

What do you reckon?

Thats hell of a cheap, however, I've looked at the spec and its 13.6 inches long. you will need a boiler with a diameter of 14 inches to accomodate that element. If that works for you then it sounds like a great deal - well done!!

A 3KW element should easily be able to get 50L of liquor up to 80/85 without any problem.

will you be able to seal it ok where the 2 connectors come through the pot ?

As it's going into a Sanke Keg (lawfully aquired) I do have enough internal space for it and as the holes I need to drill are only 15mm it shouldn't be to difficult to seal.

Time will tell and I'll post pics when it's up & running (fingers crossed)
