Suggest you read the 'beginner's guide to water treatment' thread, then treat tap water with a campden tablet to get rid of the chlorine / chloramine athumb..

The first part seems simple enough! However would bottled water already have the contaminates removed? I don't actually drink bottled water only tap so I don't know!

For kit brewing you only really need to remove the chlorine / chloramine, and a few campden tablets is both cheaper and more environmentally friendly than using bottled water (which, yes, you can use straight from the bottle). Choice is yours! athumb..

Thank you! Just need to find a 25 liter container haha
 
Unless I just get myself a third brewing vessel purely for the water? then I can put the 25 l of water in it chuck in half a tablet then post straight into the main brewing vessel?
 
If your tap water tastes and smells fine and you drink it as it comes without a second thought it's good enough for brewing kits without any treatment. If it isn't then you should consider cheapo supermarket spring water.
Terry is super helpful, and what he doesn't know about kit brewing ain't worth knowing. However I maintain that I would recommend removing the chlorine and chloramine from tap water.

You've got 2 vessels? Why can't you treat water in the barrel (?) you have, mix the extract and sugar with hot water in the fermentation vessel then add in the treated water?
 
Regarding the water?

Water is water, do you want to pay for fancy pants water?, it's entirely up to you when council pop(tap water) will do a job, depends what sort of water comes out of your tap i.e. hard water or soft water, what you are brewing and whether it needs treating but you will need to investigate that one with the people who supply your water. You lied, in your last post you said "last question"

In some areas chlorine/chloramine treatment is quite noticeable to the taste and smell but up until recently my tap water was more or less taste and odour free on all counts and I used it as is. No probs. Indeed I did try treating it with campden tabs at one time and it made no difference at all. However it has now started to occasionally taste slightly of chloramine, so I have started to treat it with campden tabs, especially since I am now doing partial mashes Otherwise I wouldn't be bothering, since apart from that its fine.
