Hi folks,
As the topic title suggests I used to 'brew' beer (well follow the recipe) a long time ago when I was a student. A very distant past. I've just started again but the intention this time is to brew the best tasting beer I can, I'm in for the journey so thanks in advance for the help and daft questions I am no doubt about to post!

Got two kit beers on the go to just test through the stuff I bought. Looking to venture to grain in the not too distant future.

Cheers now.

welcome Joc, I started back same as you, best advice I can give is save up those pennies for a 50l length stainless steel brewer, you know you will get there eventually.

No one can resist the lure of the shiny

Hi guys, and thanks for the welcomes.

I started off with a Woodforde's Nog and John Bulls best bitter - the latter having sugar added of course. As I have set them up in my unheated garage I have used heating belts for both of them. After one day it was clear that the JB was off much quicker as I guess the enzyme induction was not that hard as simple sugars can be metabolised with pre-existing enzymes in the yeast. I look forward to comparing the 'zing' of the two due to the sucrose injection as opposed to maltose et al.

Cheers guys
