Stuck Hydrometer

Hi Guys

I decided to try a strong Belgium number with an SG of 1082. I used Safbrew S33 yeast and it went off like a rocket. After 2 days it really slowed down. After 7 days I dropped in my hydrometer and it was at 1042. I decided to add another Safbrew S33 and 10 days later it is still at 1042.

any thoughts on what I should do??

Have you tried giving it a gentle rouse to lift the yeast off the bottom and wake them up. :thumb: :thumb:

I will give that a go and see how I get one.

Normally never had any problems with brews that have an SG of 1042.

a hydrometer cannot " stick " it has no moving parts....... :grin:

Your ferment may have stuck....the yeast for some reason has stopped working..it dead or resting. Check your temperature, give it a little gentle stir to boost your yeast into action.
Don't forget some yeasts ( after the initial violent ferment ) can settle into a nice slow work out. There might not be too much visible actionso make sure you give it a few days before you panic
