Hi guys,
Last saturday I brewed my second all grain brew, hop and grains hobgoblin clone, it started on 1050ish and was fermenting well but has now been stuck on 1020 for 3 days, i stirred it gently yesterday and again today but still hasn't budged!!!! Should I add another pack of yeast??? Or is there something else I should do??

Thanks

No bubbles, to be honest it looks like it has finished fermenting. However I thought it would have reached lower than 1020!!! Mashing temp was around 68 degrees but I lost 5 degrees over the 90 mins!!!!

Thats only 60% attenuation. What yeast did you use?

The higher mash temp will have given you less fermentables but thats still a low attenuation.

What temp are you fermenting at, might be worth raising to 22c for 24hrs and repitching yeast?

I used S-04, not sure what temp, it's sat on the dining room table however it has got quite a bit colder in there over the past couple of days!!! Maybe I should move it to the airing cupboard with another sachet of yeast????

Airing cupboard might be a little too warm :hmm:

S04 should go to about 73% attenuation, so you are hoping ideally for a gravity of around 1.014 so 6 points to go.

How long has it been fermenting for?

I pitched the yeast early sunday morning, so around 5 days, not long I know but it got down to 1020 pretty quick so made me think it was stuck??

Ah give it another 5 days :thumb:

It'll get to 1.014

Patience...... :D
